Research Highlight: Mask filtration study
Masters student John Almazan, and undergraduates Maria Di Landro, Sandhya Sethuraman, and Shengwei Dai presented their results on laboratory studies of mask filtration efficiency today in group meeting. They followed NIOSH guidelines and tested the filtration of NaCl aerosols at three different face velocities, measuring filtration efficiency as a function of particle size. The team observed filtration efficiencies consistent with manufacturer specifications for N95, KN95, KF94 and surgical masks.
